Asheville, NC City Parks: Pack Square Park, French Broad River Park and Carrier Park
Relax and spend the day exploring the one of the many scenic parks that Asheville has to offer.
Pack Square Park
Pack Square Park, located in the heart of historic downtown, is a nearly seven-acre modern green space with seating areas surrounded by native trees, three distinctive water features, and original artwork created by regional artists. This downtown recreation area hosts a wide variety of festivals and events each year including Bele Chere, Shindig on the Green, Asheville Art in the Park and many more. The new pavilion includes a visitor information center, four public restrooms and a rinse-off area for users of the park's lively interactive fountain Splasheville.
French Broad River Park
Considered one of Asheville's most beautiful public parks, French Broad River Park is nestled alongside the peaceful river for which it was named. The park, located in West Asheville, features vast open green spaces with old trees, a paved trail, observation deck, small playground, gazebo with picnic tables and grills, and a wildflower garden. The Dog Park also provides a large fenced-in area great for exercising your favorite furry friend.
Also in West Asheville, Carrier Park is recognized as one of the city's premier recreation areas, offering volleyball courts, a giant playground, lawn bowling court, a roller hockey rink, basketball court, paved trail, picnic pavilion, and multi-use track and sports field for baseball and soccer. Be sure to explore the park's river overlooks and boat landing, as well as the wetland interpretive and education area.
Asheville's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department maintains many parks throughout the city, including Asheville's newest recreation area Azalea Park, Livingston Street Park, Martin Luther King Jr. Park, Richmond Hill Park, Murphy-Oakley Park, Ray L. Kisiah Park, Roger Farmer Memorial Park, Shiloh Park, Walton Street Park, Weaver Park, West Asheville Park and more.
