If you’re starving, but just don’t know what you’re in the mood for, the Lake Havasu City-Kingman area is the perfect place for you: The food choices are as varied as the colors in an Arizona sunset.

In Lake Havasu City, some of the most inviting eateries are scattered near the historic London Bridge. When it arrived in the city some four decades ago, community developers wanted the iconic bridge to feel at home. An English village sprung up around the base, and today you can eat like the queen. Fish and chips are a local staple, naturally, but if you’re feeling a little fancier, the London Arms Pub & Restaurant will have you dropping your h’s after a few pints of Watney’s or Bass Ale, both on tap.

Elsewhere on the London Bridge peninsula, or simply “the island,” as locals call it, you’ll find standard waterfront fare, and a few surprises. The Javelina Cantina offers a pleasant patio with a view of Lake Havasu, grilled fish tacos and the self-proclaimed “best margaritas.” Farther into the island, Juicy’s Noodles Italian Grill will fix you up with the house specialty: deep-fried fettuccine alfredo, which comes in no less than a loaf.

Up in Kingman, the culinary scene is quite different.

No trip to this Route 66 stopover is complete without pulling up a bar stool at Mr. D’z Diner. The retro feel might leave you powerless to order anything but a bacon cheeseburger and a root beer float, but if you’re gonna go to Mr. D’z, you might as well go big.

If you’re in the mood for something a little greener in Kingman, and it’s summertime, check out the farmers’ market at the corner of Beale and North First streets.

There’s no doubt. You can find whatever you’re hankerin’ for – and then some – in Lake Havasu City-Kingman.
