Outdoor dining at Tupelo Honey Cafe, a popular Asheville, NC restaurant

Seats are always in demand at Tupelo Honey Cafe in downtown Asheville, a favorite spot to dine in a town known for its innovative restaurants.

Asheville, North Carolina‘s farm-to-table mentality and innovative restaurant scene increasingly come up in conversations about great cities for food lovers. In fact, we’ve spotlighted Asheville, a.k.a. “Foodtopia” on Livability.com‘s Top 10 list of 10 Suprising Food Cities. So no, this will not be the last time you hear about this city on this blog, especially when we’re talking food.

It’s hard – excruciating, even, depending on how much you enjoy eating – to choose from the town’s dizzying selection of places to dine, but one undeniable favorite with visitors and residents alike is Tupelo Honey Cafe. The original downtown Asheville Tupelo Honey Cafe has been in business since 2000, and its owners have recently opened a Southside location on Hendersonville Road. The most recent news, however, is that the cafe is taking orders for a new cookbook, to be shipped in Spring 2011.

That’s right, folks. Within less than a year, we all will be able to attempt the cafe’s Sweet Potato Pancakes with Grandma’s Maple Granola in our very own kitchens!
