The large number of homes and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places help give Southern Pines a charming reputation. This tourism destination attracts visitors from throughout the south-central North Carolina region who shop in the town’s boutiques, dine in unique restaurants, and explore outdoor activities like biking and equestrian sports. Schools in Southern Pines get high marks from parents. College students can attend Sandhills Community College as well as the Academy of Classical Design.
