Echo Aquarium and Science Center Educates Burlington on Life and History
Discover the wonders of life at the Echo Lake Aquarium and Science Center Leahy Center for Lake Champlain in Burlington. Echo is an acronym for ecology, culture, history and opportunity, which are the main points they hope to bring to Burlington.
The Leahy comes from Senatory Patrick Leahy and his wife who have always been major supporters of the center and to science. Some of the wonderful exhibits that can be seen here include the Burlington Waterfront, which details the amazing history of how Burlington went from three houses among an expanse of water to a major port city; and the Into the Lake exhibit, which allows visitors to operate their own remote-operated vehicle to dive down into the depths of the lake where some of the states largest catfish and other varieties of fish can be found swimming around.
The Echo Center website is fully equipped with their jam-packed events calendar and even a daily calendar letting visitors know when to come help feed the animals or meet with one of the centers ambassadors. The center is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. every day. Admission ranges from $8.50 to $10.50 depending on age, or get in free with an ECHO membership.
