Carbondale, IL's University Museum

Located on the Southern Illinois University Campus in Carbondale is The University Museum. This 10,000-square-foot space showcases historical works of arts, geological collections, photography and artifacts. The museum has been open to the public since 1874. Among it's art collection, which features more than 2,500 objects, are 20th century works by regional, national and international artists. The museum's humanities collection has more than 22,000 artifacts that reflect world cultures and archeology. A variety of educational programs and art receptions are held at The University Museum throughout the year. All are free and open to the public.

The University Museum is closed Sundays and Mondays and on all University holidays and breaks.
