The nonprofit Focus on the Family, in Colorado Springs, is no stranger to innovation. The organization has continually expanded its outreach by making the most of communication technology, including print, broadcast and the Internet.
The military presence in Colorado Springs already accounts for 40 percent of the economy‚ with an annual impact of $2.5 billion. Both of those numbers will soon increase significantly.
Originally a resort town, Colorado Springs drew wealthy easterners seeking rejuvenation from the natural springs. In recent years, the town earned the title “Silicon Mountain” because of the large number of high-tech companies and military installations located here. These characteristics earned Colorado Springs the number two spot on our Top 10 Cities for Veterans list. Today, Colorado Springs is home to innovative businesses and industries, quality health care and outdoor activities.
