Danville farmers know a thing or two about farm fresh, and every spring and summer they pool their knowledge at the Danville Farmers' Market. Open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the market features the freshest of the farmers' stock, including everything from locally grown fruits and vegetables, beef, pork, fresh baked goods and more. Saturday sees master gardeners on hand to give free advice to gardening beginners, and on the third Saturday of each month guests can get a free blood pressure check and body mass index check.

 

Though the market closes at the end of October, visitors can still get their farmers' fill on a few special occasions throughout the holiday season. November brings the “New” Holiday Market, a day-long event that features handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork and other all-around great gift ideas. There are also Christmas trees, ornaments and wreaths on sale to jump-start the holiday season. Similar events held at the end of November and December are designed with the same theme in mind.

 

The city makes it as easy as possible for visitors to enjoy the market, even offering transportation for citizens over the age of 60 on the first and third Saturday of the month for a small donation. So whether you're looking to buy, browse or simply enjoy the bustle, this market is a must.
