El Paso, TX Education Overview
With outstanding K-12 school districts, an excellent community college and leading-edge universities, El Paso and the Paso Del Norte Region offer a wealth of educational opportunities for all ages.
Three exceptional pubic school districts serve El Paso. With more than 63,000 students on 92 campuses, the El Paso Independent School District is the largest public school district in the region. The Socorro Independent School District is one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas, with more than 44,000 students on 45 campuses. Meanwhile, 44,000 students attend classes on the 62 campuses that make up the Ysleta Independent School District.
El Paso Community College serves the region with outstanding workforce/economic development and continuing education programs that support lifelong learning for nearby residents. From its five campuses, EPCC continues to receive national recognition and is one of the fastest- growing community colleges in Texas. EPCC has more than 35,000 credit and continuing education students.
Three notable programs EPCC offers through its Continuing Education Department are administered through the Contract Opportunities Center, the Small Business Development Center and the Office of Customized Training. Each serves an important role in helping residents start and sustain careers and businesses in the community.
Nearly 23,000 students are enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 2014.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech University’s Health Sciences Center is home to the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The nursing school recently received full accreditation for its baccalaureate degree program.
Less than an hour from El Paso is the New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. NMSU is dedicated to the land-grant mission of teaching, research and service at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Webster University, with campuses across the globe, offers graduate programs at its Fort Bliss campus.
