Eugene schools deserve extra credit for the academic standards they set, and a student going through secondary schools and college is pretty much guaranteed a strong education. Here is some background:

Eugene School District 4J

This district of 16,500 K-12 students is home to 22 elementary, seven middle and four high schools, plus two K-8 programs that share a building. Also in Eugene School District 4J are three small alternative schools, an international high school program on multiple campuses, a life-skills program and three public charter schools.

Bethel School District

Bethel School District serves children in the Bethel neighborhood on the northwest edge of Eugene. The district has 11 schools including the traditional Willamette High School and the alternative Kalapuya High School.

Private Schools

Private schools include Eugene Waldorf School for grades K-8, and two Montessori schools – Ridgeline Montessori and Far Horizons Montessori. Other private facilities include Wellsprings Friends School for grades 9-12, Oak Hill School that welcomes grades K-12, and Little French School – a pre-kindergarten through kindergarten French immersion program.

Parochial schools in Eugene include Marist Catholic High School, O'Hara Catholic School and St. Paul Parish School.

Lane Community College

LCC offers transfer credit programs, associate and technical degrees, and certificate programs. More than 36,000 students take credit or noncredit classes at Lane Community College each year, and it was founded in 1964.

Pacific University

Founded in 1849, Pacific has students, faculty and staff who are committed to an intimate, personalized education. Pacific University is known for its extensive undergraduate and graduate offerings, especially in liberal arts and health profession studies.

University of Oregon
