Fort Worth's Stockyards District Preserves City's History
This is no bull: One of Fort Worth's most interesting entertainment destinations is the Stockyards District.
The city was once home to a thriving livestock industry, and Fort Worth became known as “Cowtown” because of the 4 million head of cattle that passed through the city from 1866-1890.
The entertainment district in those days was disreputable and became known all over the West as “Hell's Half Acre.”
Today, the thriving Stockyards District is home to quaint shops, restaurants, night clubs and historical landmarks, as well as rodeo and stock shows.
