Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen

Since the late 1920s, Valley Baptist Medical Center-Harlingen has teamed with Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville to establish the largest not-for-profit health system in South Texas. The two hospitals have more than 800 beds and offer the latest advances in medicine and high-tech equipment.

Regional Academic Health Center

The Regional Academic Health Center in Harlingen oversees undergraduate and graduate medical education programs. It houses the educational programs and support for 24 third-year and 24 fourth-year University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio students, and a UTHSCSA residency in Internal Medicine under the sponsorship of Valley Baptist Medical Center.

South Texas Veterans Administration Health Care Center at Harlingen

Primary care as well as mental health, nutrition and social work services are available to eligible veterans who visit the facility. South Texas Veterans Administration Health Care Center at Harlingen requires appointments and is open Monday, Wednesday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Harlingen Medical Center

Physicians at this 112-bed hospital specialize in orthopedics, gastroenterology, bariatrics, obstetrics, gynecology and emergency care. Harlingen Medical Center also offers cardiac surgery and is home to a wound center and a Level IV trauma facility.

This clinic has served the needs of the Texas Lower Rio Grande Valley since the late 1970s. Patients at Su Clinica Familiar can receive treatment in dentistry, internal medicine, women's health and pediatrics. Su Clinica Familiar, Valley Baptist Medical Center and Harlingen Medical Center together employ 3,500 people with an annual payroll of almost $180 million.
