From a university of 30,000 to a community college of more than 3,500, there are plenty of opportunities for higher education in Iowa City.

Public University

University of Iowa, Iowa’s oldest public university, is located in Iowa City. The state-supported research university has more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students and is organized into 11 different colleges. The university is known for its high level of research activity and is considered a Public Ivy.

In fact, U.S. News ranked 24 University of Iowa programs among the top 10 in the nation among public universities, and Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine named the university among the top 100 best values in higher education.

Community College

Iowa City’s Kirkwood Community College campus offers convenience for more than 3,500 students. The campus is one of the fastest growing in the state, and its affordable tuition and financial aid are big draws for its population. Students have a wide variety of courses to take to complete a certificate or degree program.
