Moscow features a diverse economy that includes sectors such as education, healthcare, retail and manufacturing, and some of the city’s top employers are as follows:

University of Idaho

Linked to 25 percent of the jobs in Latah County is the University of Idaho, with 2,500 employees who oversee an enrollment of 10,000 students. The university offers 140 degree programs along with amenities like a golf course, arboretum and the state’s largest library, while numerous stores, restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance of the campus.

Moscow School District #281

With its motto “Pride of the North,” Moscow School District #281 employs 300 people in a system of 2,400 students who attend four elementary schools, one junior high, one high school, an alternative high school and one charter school. The district is known for its diverse academic offerings that include a gifted-talent curriculum as well as vocational programs.

Gritman Medical Center

Conveniently located on S. Main Street, Gritman Medical Center has provided quality health care from the same location since 1897. Dr. Charles Gritman arrived in Moscow in 1893 and began caring for area residents four years later, and today the community-owned hospital features a full array of medical services.

Walmart Supercenter

More than 300 full-time and part-time workers are employed at the Walmart Supercenter on W. Pullman Road. The retail destination is open 24 hours a day with a selection of groceries, apparel, home goods and electronics, and its specialty departments include a photo center, pharmacy, garden section and auto center.

Latah Health Services

Providing primary medical care for the whole family is Latah Health Services, whose staff treats patients afflicted with a wide range of conditions. LHS was established in 2013 and features its own pharmacy, a behavioral health department with social workers, and a pediatrics center with services like immunizations and sports physicals.

Bennett Lumber Products

A family company since the late 1930s, Bennett Lumber Products owns about 60,000 acres of forest land in northern Idaho and eastern Washington. High-quality lumber is produced at two mills and shipped to customers by truck and rail, and trees milled at BLP include Douglas fir, spruce, pine and red cedar.

Economic Modeling Specialists International

Since 2000, Economic Modeling Specialists International has conducted impact studies that provide information to help schools, private companies, economic development organizations and chambers build a better local workforce. EMSI also suggests ways to help communities get young people more interested in the area jobs of the future.

Good Samaritan Society-Moscow

Moscow Village is a care center and senior living campus located on 22 acres, and Fairview Village Estates features 17 twin homes and a 28-unit senior apartment complex on 12 acres nearby. Together, the two campuses make up Good Samaritan Society-Moscow, a leading provider of senior citizen care and services for the Moscow/Pullman area.
