Jacksonville Offers an Inviting Mix of Boutiques and Malls
If you’re looking to shop, Jacksonville offers a mix of brand-name department stores and locally owned treasures.
Military personnel at the city’s two Marine bases, as well as the locals, flock to the popular Jacksonville Mall for shopping and entertainment.
There you can catch a movie, get a bite to eat, get your hair or nails done and – of course – shop.
Anchored by Sears, JC Penney and Belk, Jacksonville Mall features more than 65 stores and a 16-screen movie theater. It’s also the only place in the county that has Starbucks Coffee shops – one in Barnes & Noble and one in the mall parking lot. The Starbucks in the parking lot is a local hot spot, says Anastasia Paszkiewicz, marketing director for the Jacksonville Mall.
The mall offers a little something for everybody, she says.
“We’ve got great tenants and a great selection here – everything from jewelry to shoes to children’s apparel and a Hallmark store, too,” Paszkiewicz says.
And while the Jacksonville Mall offers a large number of brand-name stores, such as American Eagle Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, The Gap/ Gap Kids and The Children’s Place, it still has a few not-to-be-missed locally owned shops. One of them is Foster’s Men’s Shop, which sells military souvenirs. “It’s pretty unique,” Paszkiewicz says. “There aren’t that many stores that have that kind of thing.”
If you’re into music, the Musician’s Toy Store is another local must-visit shop at the mall. This full-line musical instrument store also sells public address systems, sheet music and just about anything for the musically inclined.
The 16-screen Carmike Cinemas offers a wide variety of showings for film enthusiasts. And the mall offers a number of dining options including Pagoda Restaurant, Chick Fil-A, The Great American Cookie Co., Pretzel Twister and Tony’s Pizza.
