Kanakee resident since 1980.

What do you like most about living in Kankakee?

It's close enough to Chicago and Indianapolis and other major cities that I can go there easily but don't have to deal with all the congestion and traffic. I can be up to Chicago in an hour.

What would you recommend a visitor do to get a feel for what it's like to live in Kankakee?

I'd say go to the Kankakee Valley Theater, the Symphony Orchestra, walk through the state park, or attend any of the concerts at Olivet Nazarene University.

When guests come to visit, where do you take them to eat?

The Homestead, I love that place. La Siesta, or maybe Brickstone, it's a small restaurant and brewery.

What is your favorite thing to do there, on your own?

Play on any one of the area golf courses. Minne Monesse is my favorite.

What's the coolest thing you've seen happen in your city in the past five years?

There are a couple of things actually. There's the Bourbonnais Friendship Festival, and I've played a couple concerts at the Farmers Market in Kankakee.
