When it comes to outdoor adventure, Glasgow and Barren County are probably best known for Mammoth Cave National Park – the world's longest surveyed cave with 365-plus miles of mapped passageways. Its peculiar formations and the sheer size of this natural wonder draw millions of visitors to Barren County each year. Nearby Diamond Caverns in Park City also shows off nature's sculptures.

The 1,500-acre Barren River Lake State Resort Park is another big attraction with recreational offerings such as golf, tennis, volleyball, hiking, cycling, horseback riding and more. Overnight guests can choose from lodge rooms, cottages and campsites along the scenic lake.

The county has plenty of parks with ball fields, playgrounds, walking trails, picnic shelters, a soccer complex, and more. Five parks and the city swimming pool are part of the Glasgow Recreation Department which sponsors leagues in all major sports. Barren County’s privately-owned facilities include a country club, golf course, bowling lanes, and an indoor theater.
