The Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library opened in summer 2009 after moving to a newly renovated building with 14,520 square feet of space – about 3,200 more square feet than its previous location. The library moved into the former Citizens First Bank Building at 1530 S. Green St., and the new space offers wireless access throughout the building, state-of-the-art projection equipment, and increased Internet availability with additional space for patron computers.

From construction start to opening day, the project took about seven months. “The city, county and state officials had the vision for bringing 21st-century library service to the Barren County community, and the Library Board of Trustees worked to make that vision a reality,” says Lynn Andrew, director of the library.
