Homegrown and Farm Fresh
Fans of homegrown fare can drop by the Bounty of the Barrens Farmers’ Market to pick up all their favorite locally grown foods. Held every Saturday from March through October on the Barren County Courthouse lawn, visitors can purchase fresh-picked vegetables, meats, cheese, eggs, baked goods and handmade items. A winter market is also available every second Saturday from November through February.
One of the many locally produced foods found at the market is Kenny’s Farmhouse Cheese. Cows used to produce Kenny’s products are raised without synthetic hormones and their pasture diet is supplemented with corn and hay grown on the family's 200-acre farm. Simple quality ingredients and old-world craftsmanship give special flavor to their quality handmade cheeses, including the aged cheddar, distinctive Jarlsberg-style Swiss and Barren County Bleu.
