Kenner understands the importance of getting outside and having fun. That’s why nonprofit KaBOOM! has recognized it as a Playful City USA Community for five years in a row. From playgrounds to playing a round of golf, Kenner residents have lots to do outside.

Parks and Recreation

Kenner City Park is a favorite spot where locals come to enjoy the scenery. Ponds and waterfalls accompany a bird sanctuary, and the 30-acre area features a pavilion, playground and walking track.

Another local park is Laketown, aptly named because it is located on Lake Pontchartrain’s shores. The scenic park has plenty of space for picnics on its 30 acres. The area also provides event space for car shows and concerts, and Treasure Chest Casino is found close by.

Fishing

Laketown’s lakeside locale is perfect for fishing and boating. The park’s new concrete fishing pier can be used day or night. More than 500 feet long and 10 feet wide, the pier features gathering areas and shelters.

The Great Indoors

There are about 10 gyms accessible for Kenner residents. Programs for both adults and children are offered year round and include dance, tennis, gymnastics and gardening.
