Louisville, KY Brewers Hit Home Runs
The most popular exports from Louisville, KY, might be baseball bats and bourbon whiskey, but this town is a brewer's dream.
The Bluegrass Brewing Company has three locations in the city where six micro-brews are always on tap. While BBC beers can be found on store shelves in many parts of the country, it just tastes better when you're drinking it fresh from the keg and paired with great pub food. One of the benefits of brewing in bourbon country is access to barrels. That's the key to one of BBC's popular beers – the Bourbon Barrel Rye Porter, which is aged in Knob Creek bourbon barrels for 100 days.
Located next to Slugger Field, home of the minor-league Louisville Bats, is Browning's Brewery & Restaurant. This place has four out-of-the-park beers and a handful of seasonal catches. Try the Saint Hildegrad Helles Lager if you like classic brew, or throw a curve ball and go for the Louis XVI Guillotine ESB Ale, a medium bodied copper colored ale with a hint of bitterness.
There's also Cumberland Brewery, which is pitching more than eight handcrafted beers at any given time and BJ's Brewhouse, which has more than a dozen original tasty brews on tap.
