Casey Jones restaurant has been a dining destination in downtown La Plata for more than 30 years.

Customers visit the popular eatery because it's a good place for friends to enjoy good food, beer, wine or more adventurous beverages such as raspberry rainbow martinis and Caribbean coladas. The wine list is priced just above retail, and beers on tap include a rotation of craft beers along with the usual favorites.

"A hidden treasure in southern Maryland," says Yelp.com reviewer Juan Francisco of the restaurant. "A great place to dine or to just grab a drink in the separate bar and outdoor patio area. I really dig the gourmet pizzas and vast wine selections."

The menu at Casey Jones consists of appetizers, light fare, sandwiches and salads, with interesting selections such as jumbo lump crab cakes, crab soup, hand-tossed Neapolitan pizzas and fresh tuna flown in from Hawaii. All desserts are homemade from scratch – be sure to try the plum crumble sundae and the summer strawberry icebox cupcake.

The restaurant also hosts live music every Saturday night with no cover charge. Recent acts have included The Oren Polak Duo, Lucy, The Tommy Gann Duo, and David Andrew Smith. Casey Jones also schedules a number of wine dinners and tastings of all sorts.
