Midlothian Dining Options Range from Tex Mex to Down-Home Southern
Midlothian’s character is reflected in a growing number of one-of-a-kind restaurants, with local dining options ranging from casual Mexican and Italian eateries to down-home cafes and barbecue restaurants. Even more food choices – including a smorgasbord of upscale options in Dallas and Fort Worth – are just a short drive away.
One of the city’s most popular restaurants is Campuzanos Fine Mexican Food, located on North Eighth Street downtown. Known for its generous portion sizes and friendly staff, this welcoming Tex-Mex restaurant is a great place to grab lunch or take the family to dinner. Some menu favorites include the grilled chicken and beef fajitas, shrimp enchiladas with ranchero sauce, and the restaurant’s signature spicy salsa.
Ellis County BBQ on Silken Crossing is a longtime favorite that bills its barbecue as “tender as your momma’s heart.” The laid-back atmosphere features six big-screen televisions, a digital jukebox and a full bar. Along with beef brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, sliced sausage, hot links and chicken, the extensive menu includes fried bologna sandwiches, fried dill pickles, chicken fried steak and cheese fries.
Dee-Tee’s Restaurant, in the heart of Midlothian on North Eighth Street, has been around for more than half a century. This venerable eatery serves
up home-style meals in a casual setting with friendly service. It’s the kind of place where local old-timers gather to chat over coffee.
Another great Italian option is Giovanni’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria on East Main Street, which serves up generous portions of its freshly baked pizzas and offers lunch specials at a reasonable price.
Many local folks consider Kim & Jenny’s Restaurant in downtown Midlothian to be one of the best places in town for breakfast. Also open for lunch, this casual restaurant’s down-home cooking and welcoming atmosphere keep diners coming back.
For a good cup of joe, locals love Busy B’s Bakery and the Lighthouse Coffee Bar. Both spots offer much more than just coffee, though. Catering services and all sorts of cakes are the specialty at Busy B’s, and the Lighthouse offers a full menu as well as a venue for local musical, poetic and visual artists.
