As homebuyers flock to Midlothian in search of great schools and a slower pace of life, they’re finding a wealth of housing choices. Young couples with children or retirees looking to downsize can find affordable pre-owned or brand-new homes in neighborhoods with parks and pools. And those looking for upscale homes on large lots with lots of amenities in gated subdivisions have plenty of elegant options.
In short, there’s a home in Midlothian for just about any buyer, says Donna Lasater, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage and a Midlothian resident for 45 years.
"Midlothian is really the preferred area for buyers now," she says. "The town has really been growing because of such a huge influx from Dallas County."
The average home price is around $180,000, Lasater says, but beautiful homes are available starting in the $100,000 range on up to $400,000-plus.
Rosebud
Housing in Midlothian is well-suited for the family. The lots in Midlothian tend to be larger and more spread out, Lasater says. Trees are plentiful, and a residential construction boom in recent years has provided many choices for home buyers. The Rosebud subdivision is one of the many family-friendly neighborhoods that includes new homes, a playground area and a community pool near an elementary school. One of the city's biggest draws is the
Midlothian Independent School District, which offers many innovative programs and has a reputation for academic excellence.
Convenience is another big factor. Located just 25 miles from Dallas and Fort Worth, Midlothian offers a small-town atmosphere with easy access to a major metropolitan area.
Ashemore & Crystal Forest
The Ashemore subdivision is an example of established, upscale neighborhoods available in Midlothian. With custom home sites on 1/2- to 1-acre lots in the $200,000 to $400,000 range, Ashemore is located in a quiet, tucked-away area close to Dallas. Another upscale neighborhood,
Crystal Forest Estates, features a private park, gazebo, jogging trails, rolling hills, a creek and a pond. Homes in these neighborhoods typically include hardwood and tile floors, granite countertops, rock exterior and other elegant touches.
