Minneapolis is a shopper’s paradise. From the mecca of malls to retail deals, Minneapolis has it all.
Mall of America
For those who like to shop til' they drop, the Mall of America is a must. Spanning almost 100 acres, going to the Mall of America is no ordinary shopping excursion. The four levels are home to an aquarium, an indoor theme park and more than 50 restaurants, not to mention 500+ stores. Even better than the selection? There is no sales tax in Minnesota on shoes or apparel.
The city is home for Target’s headquarters, and the flagship store is in downtown Minneapolis. This two-story building is a one-stop-shop for great deals, but this store also offers a Starbucks, pharmacy and optical center.
Downtown Minneapolis is home to Nicollet Mall. However, Nicollet Mall is not your usual enclosed shopping center. Instead, it is the main downtown street in Minneapolis, running more or less north-south. Spanning five blocks, Nicollet Mall becomes a two-lane wavy roadway to reduce traffic and make it more friendly for pedestrian shoppers. Many national chains such as Macy's, Banana Republic and The Gap can be found at the mall.
