From roaring engines at the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame to laughter at a community theater performance, the soundtrack of life in Mooresville is played out in a variety of tempos and styles.

Visual Arts

The Mooresville Artist Guild invites everyone to visit its gallery at The Depot, which offers a rotating mix of exhibits, and to come out and enjoy its Friday evening Art Crawls which highlight works of varioius artists at galleries throughout downtown. Be sure to drop by Cotton Ketchie's Landmark Galleries on North Main Street and check out the popular watercolorist's iconic images of North Carolina lighthouses, Appalachian scenery and more.

Applause for Theater

Mooresville Children's Theatre offers youngsters from elementary to high-school age the chance to participate in all phases of stage production – from acting to set design, lighting and sound. Each show taps the skills of several dozen young performers. Productions such as The Wizard of Oz, Once Upon a Mattress and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory are presented annually at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville. Meanwhile, Mooresville Community Theater offers quality comedies, musicals and more to appreciative audiences, as it has for more than two decades. This award-winning troupe typically mounts two performances each year – spring and fall – and keeps ticket prices low to encourage broad-based community access.

NASCAR and More

Visit the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame to see 35 race cars and many other exhibits on display, then duck into the Goodyear Mini-Theater to relive some of racing's most exciting spectacles. The Hall of Fame is dedicated to all types of racing, from stock car to drag racing. There's also an art gallery featuring many of the genre's top artists, such as Sam Bass and Jeanne Barnes. And there's no better place to get a sense of Mooresville's car culture than at the monthly Cruise-Ins that take place the first Saturday of each month downtown and feature vintage cars made in 1979 or earlier.
