Muskogee, known to many from Merle Haggard's famous song, Okie from Muskogee, is about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa. A popular motorcycling destination, the city also hosts many festivals, concerts and events. Surrounded by rivers, lakes, gardens and woodlands, the city offers a host of outdoor activities. The National Trust for Historic Preservation named Muskogee a "distinctive destination".
