Soon, the half-hour drive many Harnett residents face for emergency care or a mammogram or an MRI will be over, as a new 50-bed hospital, dental and primary care facilities, and options for medical and dental training, open in what is rapidly becoming a vibrant medical corridor along U.S. 401 in Lillington.
A new hospital and the ongoing expansion of a campus devoted to science and technology lays the groundwork for Harnett County's growing healthcare corridor. Brightwater Science & Technology Campus, a mixed-use medical and business park in Lillington, welcomed the new two-story Central Harnett Hospital in January 2013. The 50-private room facility, which opened with 225 employees, was designed to expand to 175 private rooms if needed in the future.

Leading the way is Harnett Health, a private not-for-profit organization based in Dunn with facilities throughout Harnett and Johnston counties. It oversees two hospitals that provide convenience to local residents.
