The Mooresville Parks and Recreation Department is developing a greenway and planning for a new skate park. But those projects are just the tip of the iceberg. Funding is on its way for numerous additional parks and rec improvements‚ and the community’s enthusiasm for the added amenities is palpable. “This is a very exciting time at the Parks and Recreation Department‚” says Wanda McKenzie‚ who has served as the city’s parks and rec director for the past 12 years.
Mooresville steps back in time the first Saturday of each month‚ when the Cruise-In Classic Car Show attracts hundreds of classic automobiles downtown for an evening of family fun. Spectators‚ sometimes as many as 3‚000‚ might see a rare 1933 Buick sedan along with the restored Cadillacs‚ Chevrolets and other well-kept classics from the last century. Also on display are well-maintained street rods and sporty muscle cars. The show is open to cars 30 years old and older.
