Wilkes County offers its residents high-quality health care through the community-owned Wilkes Regional Medical Center. The 130-bed hospital, fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, offers a range of physician services, from cardiology to internal medicine to pediatrics. The hospital is embarking on a $14 million expansion that will include that will add 9,500 square feet to its Emergency Department, enlarge two operating suites and include a 2,200-square-foot heart center adjacent to the emergency department.
