Got beef? Take it up with Hi-Ho South in Fargo, N.D., an eatery infamous for its award-winning double cheeseburger served for only $5.45.

The Cariveau family has been flipping burgers since 1960, but were not nationally recognized by Food Network Magazine until 2009 when the publication compiled the “50 States, 50 Burgers” list for the June/July issue.

Stated in a press release, “the magazine searched for the most exciting, interesting, wacky or otherwise fabulous burger in every state and chose the one burger you absolutely have to try.”

Positive reviews don’t categorize the burger as “wacky,” but as a satisfying ratio of meat-to-bun and fried onions sandwiched between the buttered bun.

The owner of the mom-and-pop shop, Rick Cariveau, explains to flavor fanatics that he serves his patties plain so that customers can add their own toppings. However, the burger seems far from ordinary if it allures the Food Network’s taste buds.
