Las Cruces is the fastest growing city New Mexico due to its attractive labor force and climate and prosperous local agriculture.

Large Industries

Forbes.com named Las Cruces the 14th Best Small Place for Business and Careers in the country, and it's no wonder, given the city’s growing population and local economy.

Its desert location makes it ideal for the White Sands Missile Range, the city’s second top employer and pillar in the city’s economy.

New Mexico State University, located in Las Cruces, is the top employer, making education a major contributor to the city’s success, as well as producing a young, largely bilingual labor force. Other major industries include commerce, health care and agriculture.

Transportation

Residents of Las Cruces enjoy convenient transportation with an average commute of 15 minutes, a public transportation system, RoadRUNNER Transit, and the Las Cruces International Airport, roughly eight miles from the heart of the city.

The transit system provides routes throughout the city and as far as the town of Mesilla, and buses stop every hour or half-hour depending on the location. Two major highways cut through Las Cruces, I-25 going north and south and I-10, going east and west.
