Muskogee, OK is Pet-Friendly

Muskogee has long been a popular waterfront for boaters thanks to Three Forks Harbor. Some dog owners have discovered that even Fido enjoys a day on the water. On the south side of Harbor Basin near the road's end a grassy knoll has become a de facto dog beach.

Away from boat traffic and fishermen, the area is a haven for frisky, playful  pups. It's just as unlikely to have an unofficial dog beach in Oklahoma as it is to have a major harbor, but the dogs don't mind. They just shake off the sparkling water, and the irony.

Sitting outside my office right now, I can see what looks like a grandpa and his grandkids, little ones, and they’re out here on the pier fishing. And to see that every day makes me feel like we have accomplished something important to Muskogee and to Oklahoma.
