Oxford, MS Don't-Miss Attraction: The Grove
Participate in the long-held Oxford tradition of tailgating on The Grove at the University of Mississippi before the Rebels take the football field on game day.
Spanning approximately 10 acres, The Grove is centrally located on the university's campus. It became the area's top pre-game destination in the 1950s, and today, attracts nearly 25,000 fans dressed in their favorite formal wear – men in slacks and dress shirts, and ladies in dresses and high heels. In addition to proper attire, tailgaters come prepared with tents, plenty of food and drinks, fine dishes and flatware, and high-definition televisions.
Per tradition, partying begins early in the morning and lasts late into the night, with many tailgaters returning to The Grove after games end.
Thanks to the anything-but-ordinary experience it offers, The Grove has received many accolades including being named the Holy Grail of Tailgating Sites by Sporting News, and also scoring the top spot on Sports Illustrated's Best Tailgating list.
