Halifax Regional Medical Center Gives Roanoke Valley Quality Care
With Halifax Regional Medical Center conveniently located in Roanoke Rapids, you don't have to travel far to find quality health care in the Roanoke Valley.
This private, state-of-the-art health-care facility on Smith Church Road has 206 beds and more than 800 medical personnel on staff. A $6.5 million expansion and modernization project for outpatient services is bringing an even greater focus on care and convenience for patients.
“This project is centered on comfort, convenience, privacy and safety for our patients,” says Will Mahone, medical center president.
Expanding Patient Convenience
The project started in 2011 and includes a 15,200-square-foot extension, which will reduce patient waiting time, allow surgeons to meet privately with families, and give patients more privacy and surgeons more space to prepare for surgery.
“With additional space to prepare and recover from surgery, the waiting time for patients having outpatient surgery will be reduced,” Mahone says.
The expansion is not exclusive to the building. The parking lot near the Emergency Care Center and Outpatient Services entrance will also gain about 50 new spaces, making parking more convenient and improving traffic flow.
Acute Health-Care Services
Speaking of traffic flow, the daily hustle and bustle of the hospital has not stopped because of construction. The medical center, which serves Halifax, Northampton and Warren counties in North Carolina and Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Greensville in Virginia, still offers a number of acute health-care services, including urology, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics and more. The hospital also offers extensive women’s health services and provides hospitalist care from physicians who focus solely on inpatient care. A high-tech radiology department, dedicated joint-care center and specially trained emergency care center staff also set HRMC apart.
“Our goal is to focus on patients first and to improve the health of our entire community,” Mahone says.
