San Bernardino, CA Things to Do
Original McDonald’s Site and Museum
Although the very first McDonald’s was demolished more than 40 years ago, San Bernardino still celebrates its heritage as the birthplace of the world’s best-known fast-food chain with a museum. The site is where the original was first built more than 60 years ago when the McDonald brothers had the crazy notion that people would pay for fast and affordable food.
Today the museum is full of McDonald's memorabilia and mementos, as well as bits from the original establishment. A free Route 66 museum is also located on the property, allowing visitors to learn more about the life and food on America’s favorite highway.
San Bernardino County Fair
Nearby Victorville hosts the San Bernardino County Fair, a family-friendly celebration that draws about 120,000 visitors from a 100-mile radius each year. Classic county fair fun can be had with a car show and Wheel 2 Wheel Raceway, and the fair was named one of Livability’s Top 10 Summer Fairs.
The San Bernardino County Fair is also a great place to enjoy a concert. The 2012 events included well-known acts Foghat and Eddie Money.
