Fine Dining at Hamptons in Sumter, SC
Upscale dining meets Southern cuisine and hospitality at Hamptons, located in downtown Sumter. With its seasonally inspired menus and locally produced ingredients, Hamptons is becoming Sumter's destination for an elegant, delicious meal.
Owners Greg and Danielle Thompson got the idea for Hamptons after they ate at The Vintage in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. They believed a fine dining restaurant would be great for downtown Sumter, and Hamptons has been a hit since it opened in 2008.
Chef Raffaele Dall'Erta, who joined Hamptons from The Inn at Little Washington in Virginia, and his staff are pampering palates from appetizers to entrees to desserts. The array of appetizers includes Hamptons Classic Corn Chowder with Shrimp and Apple Smoked Bacon, along with salads, seafood and other first-course selections. Seafood, steaks, chicken, duck and pasta dishes are among the dinner entrees. Specialty sandwiches and salads are also available on Hamptons' lunch menu Tuesday through Friday.
The menu changes a little every day, so if there’s one signature dish at Hamptons, it’s Chef Dall’Erta’s creativity and quest for perfection. Guests seem to agree, as Hamptons is popular with locals, visitors and regulars who often come from as far away as Columbia, Florence and Charlotte.
The Alley Way offers casual outdoor dining in the restaurant's courtyard Wednesday through Saturday evenings, complete with live entertainment on weekends. Hamptons has its own bakery with artisan breads, pastries and desserts made fresh on site. In addition, there's a wide selection of wines, with many available by the glass.
