Brentwood, TN Golf Courses
The Brentwood club scene is always in full swing, with three beautiful private golf courses.
Brentwood Country Club Designed by Gary Roger Baird, this golf challenge opened in 1960. One of its visual highlights is actually the clubhouse, an antebellum mansion originally constructed in 1829 that still stands today. Brentwood Country Club has a 6,437-yard layout with Bermuda grass. The signature hole is No. 1, a par 4, 421-yard test that requires accuracy and distance control. The fairway is guarded by out-of-bounds and water to the left, while the Little Harpeth River borders the right-hand side. Nashville Golf & Athletic Club This long 7,340-yard course opened in 1972 and was designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert von Hagge. It is on land that Davy Crockett and his family settled in the 1780s. The par 3 No. 6 hole at Nashville Golf & Athletic Club (171 yards, five bunkers) is its signature and was selected by Sports Illustrated as one of the 18 greatest golf holes in the country. In addition, the United States Golf Association rates the entire venue among its top 25 “Hardest U.S. Courses.” The Governors Club Arnold Palmer designed this 7,031-yard test of golf that opened in 1999. The Governors Club is known for its scenery of meandering creeks, elevation changes, waterfalls and rock work. The signature hole is No. 3, a par 5, 567-yarder that will almost always require three shots to reach the green. Second and third shots must avoid two lakes and a stream that guards the entire left side of the hole, making five a good score.
