Tupelo Country Club in Tupelo, MS

The Tupelo area is home to several good golf courses at a great value.

Tupelo Country Club

Tupelo Country Club ranks as one of the top quality tracts in all of Mississippi. The 18-hole layout in Belden just outside Tupelo was built in 1970 and measures a formidable 6,897 yards from the back tees.

The course has six small lakes and 300 native trees, and groundskeepers attend to more than 10,000 annual flowers that thrive in Tupelo's Southern climate.

"Tupelo County Club is amazing with some challenging holes," says Neal McCoy, deputy director for the Tupelo Convention and Visitors Bureau, and an avid golfer. "It offers several opportunities to pull out your driver thanks to the vast length of the course."

Big Oaks Golf Club

The town of Saltillo is home to Big Oaks Golf Club, an 18-hole course with Bermuda grass greens that make it "a dynamic golf facility," according to McCoy. Big Oaks is semiprivate, offering memberships while also open to the public.

Natchez Trace Golf Club and Other Area Clubs

Also in Saltillo is Natchez Trace Golf Club. "Natchez Trace is probably the hardest golf course in the area," McCoy says. "It has rolling hills and you have uneven lies most of the time. They keep their greens fast and they have a lot of older, established trees that really come into play. It's very humbling."

The city of Pontotoc has only 6,000 residents but is home to a pair of courses "“ the 18-hole Pontotoc Country Club and the nine-hole Meadows Golf Course.

In Armory, River Birch Golf Club is an 18-hole championship layout that measures 7,246 yards from the back tee boxes.

In addition, Bel Air Golf Club is a nine-hole course that was built in 1936 in an older Tupelo neighborhood, and it was once the Tupelo Country Club before construction of the new course.
