Twin Falls is a Treat for Wine Enthusiasts
Southern Idaho's Magic Valley certainly has the magic touch when it comes to wine. Situated at the end of the “banana belt,” the region is ripe for wine-making due to its rocky soil and winters mild enough that grapes won't freeze. Just outside of Twin Falls, the city of Buhl is home to both Holesinky Vineyard and Snyder Winery. Holesinky's began in 2001 as Idaho's first organic vineyard and winery. It started with chardonnay, grew into syrah, merlot and port, and eventually expanded to include cabernet sauvignon and Muscat. Among the vineyards many awards are double gold medals from the Idaho Wine Festival for its Holsinky Rose. On the other hand, Snyder Winery standards for customer satisfaction extend far beyond sips of wine; they make a visit to their vineyard an overnight affair. There's a cabin for guests to stay nearby and a steakhouse run on the weekends. And, of course, there's wine.
