Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs can’t be completed fast enough. The retirement community won’t be completed until late 2009, though its existing facilities are already at capacity.

The facility, the fourth built by the partnership of the Southwest Texas Methodist Conference, Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio, has 95 independent living apartments, 30 cottages and 26 assisted living apartments. An additional 16 assisted living apartments and a 40-bed skilled nursing facility will follow, allowing the operation to provide the full continuum of care.

These living quarters are complemented by an on-site beauty salon, putting green, indoor heated pool and other amenities that have made the community a true destination.

Jennifer Van Cleave, director of communications for Morningside Ministries, says the immediate success of the new facility is based on three factors: The organization’s good reputation, the interest of members of the three churches and the facility itself.

“It’s just a great building,” Van Cleave says.

The facility is located on the Interstate 10 frontage road, one-half mile south of Highway 46.
