The serene outdoor spaces that capture the hearts of San Angelinos also appeal to their dogs.

The four-mile Concho River Walk offers a gorgeous view of the city, as well as connecting the most dog-friendly parks in the city, including Kirby and Unidad parks.

The same river that makes San Angelo the "Pearl of the Concho" connects to one of San Angelo's other great natural features, San Angelo State Park, where pets may enjoy a more rugged encounter with nature, complete with walking trails, campgrounds and the popular O.C. Fisher Lake.

Pet health benefits in San Angelo don't end at recreation.

The Humane Society of Tom Green County has expanded its nonprofit veterinary services tenfold thanks to a donated building.

The new facility houses the non-euthanasia Humane Society's education, adoption and sterilization services.
