Union Station once reigned as the closest sizable train depot near the golden spike where the first transcontinental railroad was completed in 1969. No longer a functioning train station, Union Station now facilitates traffic of a more artistic kind. The former railroad station now houses shops and five museums, including the Utah State Railroad Museum.
