The Jordan House
The Jordan House is one of West Des Moines’ significant historical attractions. The oldest structure in the county, the house was built by one of the city’s first settlers, James C. Jordan. A passionate abolitionist, James Jordan used his house as part of the Underground Railroad.
Today, the home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a member of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program. Visitors can admire the Victorian-style details and museum.
