Art Museum
Scenes of Louisiana’s people‚ wildlife and scenery are what the Ouachita River Art Gallery is all about.
The successful nonprofit cooperative of local and regional Bayou artists is located in the historic Antique Alley in West Monroe‚ providing a dynamic visual arts center for the parish. Besides paintings‚ there are works of jewelry‚ ceramics and sculpture. The center also offers art workshops in a classroom setting.
Many Museums
Among West Monroe's many museum is the
Beidenharn Home and Gardens. Home of Joseph Beidenharn, the first bottler of Coca-Cola, the home is features plenty of coke memorabilia, including a coke museum next door. Also adjacent to the home is a Bible Museum, filled with Beidenharn's extensive Bible collection, and the Elsong Gardens, with over an acre of terraces, fountains and statues.
Also in the city is the
Chennault Aviation and Military Museum. The museum occupies one of the last standing buildings from WWII Selman Field Army Air Corps Naviation School, and features an extensive collection of artifacts and exhibitis.
Kids will enjoy the
NELA Children's Museum, which features permanent displays such as Toddlerville, an area for those under 4, a firehouse exhibit, a Kid's Cafe and Bubbleworks, a giant bubble.
