Winston-Salem, NC Don’t Miss Attraction: Reynolda House Museum of American Art
Winston-Salem is a city that appreciates arts and culture, so it's no surprise that it's home to a prominent art museum. The Reynolda House Museum of American Art has one of the best collections of American paintings and sculptures in the United States.
Built in 1912, the home was originally a private residence for R.J. Reynolds, namesake and founder of the country’s second-largest tobacco company. Two generations of the Reynolds family lived on the estate before it was opened to the public.
The property became an art museum in 1967, and visitors can explore the vast gardens and lake that surround the museum. The collection, which spans about 300 years of history, features works from famous artists such as Mary Cassatt, Georgia O'Keeffe and Frederic Church.
