Greg Kilgore and his wife have long loved cooking. The couple relocated to Jasper six years ago from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and immediately opened Black Rock Bistro. The restaurant has recently been relocated to downtown Jasper, where the work of various Alabama artists adorn the walls and benches.
The diverse menu at Black Rock changes every week. The restaurant specializes in fresh coastal cuisine with a cajun twist, and past dishes include beef flank, shrimp carbanara, stuffed catfish, shrimp and grits, shrimp creole, and pork dishes. You can be informed weekly of the dishes being offered by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the restaurant's email list. Much of the food is locally sourced and is from sustainable, organic, free-ranged farming. All meat is hand-cut in house.
Black Rock Bistro also features a full-service bar, with changing wine specials and high-end cocktails of all kinds.
Great for dining in or taking out, Black Rock is open for lunch Tuesday-Friday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and for dinner on Thursdays and Fridays 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. Service is fast and friendly! They also cater events ranging from 10-5,000 people.
