The Hot Springs National Park is the oldest national park in the country, making the city’s concern for nature a pillar in Hot Springs' traditions and history. With such notable surroundings, it’s no wonder so many residents and visitors choose to enjoy the outdoors with activities like camping, hiking, golf and more. Activities and attractions also earned Hot Springs a spot on the Top 10 Spring Break Destinations for Families list.
Hot Springs is surrounded by the national park and lakes in nearly every direction. Campgrounds are found in the nearby Ouachita Mountains. The most popular campgrounds are Lake Ouachita State Park and the Hot Springs National Park KOA. House boats and vacation cabins are also available to rent. A popular outdoor activity for families with children is hunting for quartz crystals at the many available locations.
Hot Springs keeps up with its reputation as a place of relaxation with nearly 10 different golf courses to choose from. Glenwood Country Club Golf Course, rated one of the best courses in the state, offers 18 holes and is part of The Natural State Golf Trail, consisting of 15 courses throughout Arkansas.
Another course is at the Hot Springs Country Club, which was established in 1898 and offers 36 holes and is a PGA championship course.
