Democrats find few supporters in Slidell, La., a city located in the state’s 1st Congressional District.
Representing the district in the U.S. House of Representatives is Steve Scalise, who serves as Majority Whip. Republicans have held the seat since 1977 and typically hold office in all levels of government. Scalise, a far-right Republican according to GovTrack, advocates for lower taxes, a robust national defense and conservative values.
Slidell Mayor Freddy Drennan recently received an award from the Slidell Republican Women’s Club, honoring his support of conservative values. State Sen. A.G. Crowe, a Republican from Slidell, was recently given a 100 percent score by the Louisiana Family Forum, indicating that he strongly supports pro-life and pro-family legislation.
