Located northeast of Austin, this fast-growing city is on the rise thanks to a booming regional economy, an affordable cost of living and family-friendly amenities. Tons of young professionals and families are moving to Pflugerville to work in high-tech manufacturing, 3D printing and other fields. The city is making a concerted effort to maintain its small-town charm and community focus, while also being proactive about development and growth.

Best Coffee Shop: West Pecan Coffee + Beer, where you can sit with friends among the colorful eclectic decor and enjoy specialty coffee. As you might have guessed from the name, they also serve local craft beer.
Best Local Beer/Brewery: Try the Fistful of Fury Hazy IPA from Willard’s Brewery.
Must-Have Meal: The brisket grilled cheese at Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue is as delicious as it sounds.
